The war of clones!

We all know that brands like Zara and Mango are waiting for big fashion houses to show their new collections in order to start cloning their designs. Of course we dream about owning a piece from Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton or Miu Miu, but we can't afford it. Thank God we have Zara, Mango, Bershka and other stores that make it possible for us to own something similar.

Have a look at these pictures and run down to the shops!

Style Tip for the weekend: how to wear leather during summer season.

I'm 100% sure you've already put your eyes on the look books for the next season and if so, you have noticed that leather is stronger than ever. Leather is everywhere, on skirts, jackets, little dresses, etc.

If you are a woman full of confidence and can't wait for the cold season here you have some tips on how to wear leather in the summer. You'll definitely be the first wearing the new trend and you'll look chic and edgy.
  • Leather mini skirt. For a sexy look style it with a simple t-shirt and heels. Opt for trendy accessories such a neon clutch and a statement necklace.

  • Tan/brown leather skirt. I don't know you but when I think leather I always associate it to black. For a trendier look think outside the box and try on a tan or a brown leather skirt. Like this one from Zara.

  • Black leather shorts. This is probably the most versatile as you can wear them both for day and night and it's easily to pair with a t-shirt and wedges or heels.

  • The leather t-shirt. If you are tired of wearing the same cotton t-shirt, why don't you give a try to a leather one? It's very trendy during the summer and you could find them in different colours.

So, are you daring enough?

Have a great weekend and don't forget to follow me on Facebook!

Rule # 27: How to wear a midi skirt.

Midi skirts will be back in your wardrobe next season but if you are one of those girls who can't wait for the cold weather have a look at these tips so you can look amazing during the summer.

The trend was originally popularized in the early 1970s as fashions transitioned from flower power to seventies sleek. As always, fashion has repeated itself and the midi is the must-have piece for 2013. Midi skirts are polished and sleek. When styled properly, the trend is at the vanguard of sophistication. It is a great piece to have if you’d like to diversify your style from time to time, while still looking and feeling chic.

It’s much more adventurous than you think. Although the piece can appear boring when hanging from the racks, it certainly requires a certain amount of attitude to own and wear a trend like this one, just like any revealing top or body-con skirt in your closet.

STREET STYLE

Versatility is one of your best friends in fashion. Any piece that allows you to style it in a few dozen ways is something you definitely want to keep in your closet forever. How great would it look with that felt hat you just got for the fall? If you have no idea what's up with felt hats lately

Have these in mind:

  • Length is key. If you don’t have the tiniest calves, you want to make sure your midi ends at the bottom end of your calf, where it starts to taper or else you will make your calves look wider than they are! The taller you are, the longer your skirt can be; if you're on the petite side in terms of height, stick to skirts just-below-knee length.
  • Wear the right shoes. This look calls for higher heels, unless you’re aiming for that matronly, not-so-cute, vintage look. Because of where the skirt falls, your legs are already getting “chopped off”, so heels it's a must to elongate your leg line and create an even, elegant posture!
  • Wear the right top. Choosing the appropriate top will go a long way towards keeping this look on trend and stylish, rather than, frumpy and matronly. Stay away from oversized tops and stick to fitted ones instead. The ideal match is a slim-fit blouse or tee tucked into the skirt paired with a jacket (if needed) that falls at the hipline. You need to minimize your look to avoid looking bulkier as the skirt can make you easily cross that border!
  • Choose the right style. As with many trends, designers find several ways to vary said piece to allow room for versatility when styling. An A-line skirt is usually flattering to all body types, so if you are unsure as to which style to pick up, stick with this one. An elongated pencil skirt is also very flattering on several body types and can create a super chic and sexy hour-glass shape. Although I stated that you should stick with fitted tops, if you choose a fitted bottom, you can definitely pair it with a loose sweater, crop-top, or blouse. Just remember to keep length in mind - whether you decide to go with a pencil shape, a-line, or a piece that has gathering or flares.

How to look chic with a t-shirt & shorts.

Sometimes you can look too sporty or even too casual when you are just wearing shorts and a t-shirt. During summer nights when it's too hot and you are going out with your friends, you want to be cool and fresh, yet look chic and sophisticated. Get some inspiration from this post and you'll be the centre of attention!

The key is to mix and match bold pieces with classic ones. At night, it always looks good to wear something that sparkles. So, if you are wearing simple clothes, always make them pop with a piece of statement jewellery but, if you are wearing bright, bold clothes, turn the volume of your accessories down to suit them.

Have a look at the pictures and don't forget to always wear your heels!

Tip of the day: how to wear a kaftan.

For those of you that might not be familiar with this piece of clothing, the kaftan is a front-buttoned coat or overdress, usually reaching the ankles, with long sleeves. It can be made of wool, cashmere, silk, or cotton and you can wear it with a sash or belt.

It’s a variant of the robe or tunic, versions of which have been worn by countless cultures around the world, for thousands of years. The kaftan is associated with Islamic cultures in which Kaftans were often worn as court robes.

As you can see this piece of clothing has a long history and the fashion industry has revisited it several times, mainly during summer collections. Kaftans can be really versatile and you can even wear them from morning to evening, changing the look with accessories.

Summer season is a fantastic time for wearing a kaftan and we have seen it on many catwalks during fashion weeks. I should also mention that even the basic design of the kaftan has been updated so now you can see them shorter, longer and even with fringes giving them a twist and making them looking even more up to date.

Style Tip for the weekend: The power of a t-shirt.

How many of you have been standing in front of your wardrobe thinking about what to wear? All of you, aren’t you? If you are a follower of my blog you should already know I'm a big fan of basics and how you can transform your outfit with the right accessories.

Today I would like to talk to you about a piece of clothing you normally use for other occasions and not for a night out or even for work: the t-shirt. The simpler the better.

I'm sure you're planning to go out tonight. It's time to look inside your wardrobe. Pick out a simple black pencil, maxi or a trendy midi skirt and your favourite heels. Now go to that part of your wardrobe where you have all your t-shirts and chose a white basic one. Simple, isn't it? Upgrade your look with a statement necklace and a clutch and don't forget the make up!

Have a great weekend!
